So... Who is this Katy Perry Girl?

Well, it's really late and I'm very tired, so if some of this isn't grammatically perfect, please don't sue me! I think I have enough life in me to get this blog out... I just stumbled upon some interesting information I'd like to share about this Katy Perry.

The first time I heard the song "I kissed a Girl" was her performance on So You Think You Can Dance. The "watching/listening" that happened here lasted a total of about 30 seconds as my mother and I looked at each other and she then asked, "Uh, can we fast-forward through this?" Responding with no words, I x3'd it all the way through the commercial break and thought nothing more of it.

A few days later, I was doing some cleaning and a little rocking out and the song came on the XM Satellite radio. Although the song has an awesome catchy tune, I couldn't help but get a strange feeling about it. I felt to change the channel. I haven't listened to the song in it's entirety, but I get the point.

I read on some online news that gay activists are angry with the song pinning it as "homophobic" I'm not sure where it has been pinned "homophobic" I guess I haven't listened that far into the song, but "I kissed a girl, and I liked it, the taste of her cherry chapstic" personally sounds pro-gay to me.

Anyway, Katy Perry is known as this new "provocative" break out artist with her catchy tunage on pop radio stations, but is this really her story? I was surprised to see my "weird feelings" become unveiled when I came upon an article about her previous recording history.

Katy Perry Is a sell out... and one of the most disheartening kind. Seven years ago, At age 16, she released a self-titled Album, under her real name which is Katy Hudson. (She has since changed her stage name to Perry because of the close similar name to Kate Hudson, the actress. Perry is her mother's maiden name.) This Album "Katy Hudson" was one her Pastor-father and Preacher-mother I'm sure were very proud of. The songs were originals, written at only 15 and 16 years old in praise to our Lord... but as for today's album, I'm not so sure about the parents loving this one.

In an interview I read online she says they are proud of her and support her in all she does as long as she "doesn't get naked in public or do drugs" and answers the next question with an F-Bomb. Parents will be proud of you in all your successes and support your decisions as an adult because they are your parents, but I must say, I'm sure the Hudsons are carrying a heavy burden for their daughter.

Now, say what you will about me or my views, "She sings a song you don't agree with, get over it." or Just because she's a pop singer now doesn't mean she doesn't still believe." The song itself or her "being a pop singer" is not the issue. Nor is even "Believing" I am a strong believer that you must accept Jesus into your life and continue to live a righteous life to be a true Christian and have true Salvation. I was a "believer" before I was actually saved, and I believe that I was mislead in a way and that if I had not actually accepted him and began to live my life for him I would have never actually been a Christian or gone to Heaven when I passed on. My point here is making comments about an urge to smooch Miley Cyrus, dropping F-Bombs, and performing in the Warped tour seems very different from Katy Hudson vs. Katy Perry.

She has also been referred to as: "Lez for pay" on a popular celebrity gossip page.

A review for her album on ChristianityToday [ChristianMUSICtoday] says:
"Katy Hudson's debut easily could have been just another teen songwriter mimicking mainstream music trends with Christian lyrics. Instead, I hear a remarkable young talent emerging, a gifted songwriter in her own right who will almost certainly go far in this business. That name again is Katy Hudson. Trust me, you'll be hearing it more and more in the next year."
[See the album review in its entirety here]

How ironic, is that the word I'm searching for?

It seems that Katy has lost sight of the importance of God in her life and decided to throw out a "struggling" Gospel career for some cold, hard, Cash.
Another person comes to mind right away for me here, and that's Judas. Judas was a sell-out.
Jesus, or 30 pieces of Silver?
It seems to me that Katy Perry has opted for the Silver.

I pray that Katy Hudson/Perry will find her roots and get back to a life that may not bring in as much dough, but she'll have tons of treasures in Heaven.

What do you think?
Katy Hudson vs. Katy Perry
... sold out for the 30 pieces of Silver
or not?

I am saddened by this. People are in search of money and fame and they will do whatever it takes to get that. But this christian to secular movement has been going on for a while and it goes both ways. We have secular artists singing praise to God and Christian artists jumping mainstream to "make it big". I just want some good anointed singing! That's all I want!

Would this have been such a big deal if Katy hadn't been a Christian before she preformed this song?
I also understand why the Gay Community is so upset. Katy is not gay she's just a scene party girl that's "just trying to have a good time". She's kissing girls for fun and making a joke out of it.
I personally don't think it's that big of a deal that Katy "sold out" because all we can do is pray for her and her wellbeing in hopes that one day she'll become wiser and realise her songs are leading our young people in the worng direction. Girls kissing other girls is not very acceptable in Christ's eye.

Definitely...Prayer is the key!

Christ never had a thing to say about girls kissing girls. I think the song is dumb, don't get me wrong. The lyricism lacks luster and there is no musicianship to be heard of... So where in there is a thriving music career other than shock value? But the fact that a girl kissing another girl for fun qualifies as shock is beyond me. Say what you will about Leviticus and Corinthians, Christ never said a thing about homosexuality.

Money.

Why have a crappy christian singing career appealing to a very narrow audience when you can be a pop star and make millions?

A lot of people act like they believe because it is more socially acceptable. Maybe she had some logic epiphany and decided that imaginary friends were for kids - not adults... So she grew up to have a successful career.

Just because you believe in supernatural mumbo jumbo doesn't mean everyone should - especially if said superstition hampers your career goals.

Of course she sold out her faith. It's patently obvious. Singing songs to the glory of God was cramping her style, so she ditched her morals and decided that the money she could make in hollywood outweighed everything else.

I'm not saying there are no Christians living out a vibrant witness for Jesus, but let's be honest, to make it big in hollywood, one has to compromise.

She is using her sexuality to sell records. Jesus calls us to humility and modesty and holiness and purity. None of us is perfect, but it is no excuse for sin. By their fruit you shall know them.

The verses below point out God's standard on how we use our bodies including the tongue. If she sings, she is responsible for her words (as we all are for our words).

Mat 12:36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,

1 Cor. 10:31 - So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

2Co 7:1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

1Th 4:4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,

1Th 4:7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.

Heb 12:14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

2Pe 3:11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness,

Rom 6:13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.

1Pe 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

1Pe 1:15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

Act 3:19 Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out,

Mar 1:15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

Jas 3:10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

Jas 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.

@Anonymous who said Christ didn't say a thing about homosexuality: Give your head a shake.

Homosexuality is clearly classified as a sin by both the Old and New Testaments.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."

So Jesus did not say specifically Homosexuality was wrong, but clearly he stated you should turn away from sin. Paul wrote Corinthians. Are you saying he is wrong about homesexuality as well? DO NOT BE DECEIVED!

I find it curious when ignorant people, particularly athiests, pretend to know the mind of God.

Jesus did not specifically mention anything about rape or incest, eventhough it's listed in the old testament as sin together with homosexuality. So by your "logic" we should allow rape and incest? How about pornography, Jesus didn't say specifically right? I'm sure that's healthy. It's a slippery slope Anonymous, and obviously you're more into what the world says is correct than God.

I know that if Jesus were here today, homesexuals would definitely be one of the groups He would be ministering to. They need salvation, especially in this age.

Katy Perry obviously chose the world instead of Jesus and I am sad for her. She's not the first and won't be the last, but it certainly is worse for someone who knew the right path and tossed it away. The Bible clearly states that.

To Anonymous above--Rape and incest are ILLEGAL CRIMES. Being a homosexual is NOT A CRIME--big difference. It's not a crime in who you choose to love and spend your life with.

People do not choose to be gay, they are born that way. If you say people's sexuality is a choice, that means YOU can wake up tomorrow and say "I choose to be gay." It doesn't work that way! People are either NATURALLY gay or straight and it's already naturally inherent from birth or childhood. People, gay or straight, have no control over their sexual preference. Choosing who you love and have relationships with is not a crime and hurts NO ONE. Rapists, molesters, and murders hurt people, but gay people seem to be condemned even more than them. Again, NO ONE JUST CHOOSES TO BE GAY!!!

@Ananymous above:
How are you so sure that homosexuality is *strictly* naturally occurring? Can't behaviors be learned? If you choose to hang out with artists for instance, and you are intrigued by what you see, would you not adopt a more artist-centric world-view? The *behavior* of homosexuality is not immune to this phenomenon. And answer me this: Why do some homosexuals convert to heterosexuality? If its *only* naturally occurring, why has this happened time and time again? I would wager MOST homosexuals were not born that way. Some homosexuals were probably actually born gay due to hormonal imbalances, but I believe most were conditioned that way through their life experiences, peer pressure, male and female role models, early childhood, whether or not they were sexually abused as kids, etc.

Just prove to me that "NO ONE CHOOSES TO BE GAY!!!" and I'll be satisfied. You haven't proven anything in your post. And typing in ALL CAPS doesn't make your argument any more valid.

Whether or not something is "legal" doesn't make a hill of beans of difference when you're looking at morality and God's Law. Legality can change just by stepping across the border. I can legally smoke pot in one country, but not in another. I can legally abort my baby, but not in another. Who cares about legal vs illegal. What the OP was discussing is if its "right" or "wrong" in God's eyes, which has as much to do with our modern justice system as I do with Katy Perry (which is none).

No, "ironic" isn't the word you were looking for -- just "unfortunate." Of course, "Kissed a Girl" was just the start. Now she's singing:

Skinny dipping in the dark
Then had a menage a trois
Last Friday night
